I’m Bernadette and I’m the volunteer support group facilitator for Lancashire. I’m a nurse with extensive clinical experience in various health care settings. My son has a life threatening allergy and experienced anaphylaxis twice as a young child.
When he was diagnosed there wasn’t much information or support available so it was a big learning curve for us all as a family.
We navigated the progression through school and college to independence at university. He is now working and living independently and is responsible for caring for himself which brings different challenges.
I would like to offer support to parents, carers or adults living with the difficulties of life threatening allergies. The group is welcoming and friendly providing a safe and supportive environment for people to come together to share their experiences and gain information.
