The essential core content includes common causes of an allergic reaction, how to recognise and manage anaphylaxis, how to use adrenaline auto-injectors in an emergency, and practical tips for safely managing children and young people with allergies.

Our engaging courses typically take an hour to complete and include practical scenarios, videos, optional narration and quizzes. After a final assessment there is a downloadable certificate. Lead by a former head teacher and developed with expertise over the last 10 years, this allergy training includes additional material only available on the AllergyWise course including lesson and assembly plans, plus other free materials to include in the school curriculum.

AllergyWise® Early Years Setting

This CPD-certified course is evidence-based and developed by a team of medical and educational experts, including allergy nurses, paediatric allergy consultants, teachers, and headteachers. It is tailored for all Setting staff, recognising that any member of staff may find themselves supporting a child experiencing anaphylaxis. The course employs modern, interactive learning techniques, featuring practical scenarios, videos, and audio materials.

  • For settings to be able to become allergy aware the information on how to support children cannot sit with one or two people. We have determined that a minimum of 5 people are essential for a setting to become allergy aware.

  • How do I buy this AllergyWise® for Early Years Settings course?

  • How much does the course cost?

    The course costs £105 including VAT  for 5 participants.

  • Why do I have to buy for a minimum of 5 staff?

    We encourage a whole setting allergy awareness approach –  the more staff who are allergy aware and can recognise the signs of anaphylaxis, the safer all children with allergies in an early years setting will be.

    Our course also includes additional benefits: allergy awareness resources for young children plus the opportunity to achieve our AllergyWise® Early Years Setting award.

  • What if I don’t need to buy for 5 staff?

    Once purchased, you will be able to use the course places for 12 months, so if you have any staff changes, new staff members, ad-hoc staff, are part of a network of childminders in your area etc. then these staff can also be trained. 

  • I'm a childminder looking to purchase the course, can I?

    Yes, this course is designed for all early years providers, including childminders.

  • What happens after I’ve paid for this course for my staff?

    The group leader who purchases the course can enrol users onto the course. You can do this by logging into your account and going to ‘Learning Groups’. Click on the Enrol New User button to add users by entering their name and email address. The enrolled user will then receive an email with their account login details so they can access the training. Each staff member needs their own account to complete the course individually.

  • I've purchased the course but now want to buy for more staff, what do I do?

    You can either purchase the course again for a minimum of 5 staff or you can get in touch using this contact form to purchase less than 5 more course places.
