A new consensus report on anaphylaxis has been published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology by the Global Allergy and Asthma Excellence Network (GA2LEN). This report, developed by an international panel of 46 experts from 14 countries, addresses the critical need for standardised guidelines in anaphylaxis management worldwide.
The report introduces three key tools: a unified definition of anaphylaxis, an educational overview for healthcare providers, and a clinical support tool with updated diagnostic criteria and treatment guidelines. Notably, it’s the first to include specific findings for infants.
By providing clear, standardised guidance, the clinical support tool should facilitate improved anaphylaxis recognition and treatment, and help to standardise research outcomes.
