Maddie’s story

Madeline ‘Maddie’ Lineham passed away suddenly from an anaphylactic shock on Tuesday 14th January 2014.

She was just 10 years and 10 months old.

Maddie suffered from asthma and allergies to dairy and chicken, however her allergies were never considered life threatening.  Maddie tried a crumb of something new to her containing four natural ingredients to which she had not been allergic previously.  She had an immediate reaction with her lips tingling and strong abdominal pain and was sick on arrival at the doctor’s but had no swelling to her face.

Maddie passed away within the hour.

Maddie’s family are determined for her memory live on and the Anaphylaxis Campaign is keen to help them do so. Family and friends across the globe will remember Maddie by releasing pink balloons with messages for her at 4pm GMT on Wednesday 14 January 2015.

With the family’s permission, we would like to invite our supporters to join in this remembrance, either by releasing a balloon or honouring a moment of silence for Maddie and the others we have lost to anaphylaxis.
