After 29 years in secondary education, of which 11 were spent in senior leadership roles, I am hugely excited by the opportunity to work with schools while wearing a different hat. Education itself is the most powerful of tools and has been for me the most rewarding of careers, so as much as the time is right for me change direction away from the day-to-day buzz of school life, I do not want to lose touch with that completely.
I know first-hand how the primary function of any school is keeping young people safe, and an understanding of allergies and anaphylaxis is crucial to that end. I also know first-hand the impact on a family, and a community as a whole, of losing a young person to anaphylaxis. The support and training that Anaphlyaxis UK provides is invaluable to schools and families and I am delighted to be able to contribute to the work of the charity.
