Anaphylaxis UK would like to congratulate Julianne Ponan, entrepreneur and allergy advocate, on receiving an MBE for her service to business, exports, and people with allergies. The news was announced in the New Year’s Honours List.
This tremendous achievement is very well deserved as Julianne has made it her mission to raise awareness of allergies and help people through sharing her own personal experience with serious allergies, and her allergen-free business. She first became involved in our charity last year helping to share our evidence-based information and resources and promote our awareness raising campaigns.
In a social media post, Julianne said:
“It is surreal; I am honoured and humbled to be recognised and awarded an MBE in the 2023 New Year’s Honours List – made exceptionally special as it is the first year of the awards under the reign of our new King Charles III. This is an award I never dreamed of and it really does prove that anything is possible!
“Being given this for helping people with allergies and doing what I absolutely love makes it even more special. All those times I used to wish I didn’t have allergies, my mum always said your allergies will make you stronger (I guess she was right)!”
Julianne will be speaking with our Chief Executive Simon Williams in a special upcoming podcast about her plans and our plans for helping the allergy community in 2023. Keep checking our social media channels for updates.
