Allergenic ingredients are a specific type of contaminant as they do not respond to two of the key controls they routinely employ to keep food safe; namely operating at chilled temperatures to reduce growth (which has no effect on allergens) and applying disinfectants to eliminate populations (as a non-alive contaminant, reduction via killing simply isn’t an option).  This key difference to other food safety risks presents a unique challenge to hygiene and decontamination activities which requires specific consideration. 

Christeyns’s range of formulated detergents are specifically created to safely and effectively remove soiling from production surfaces thereby allowing the contaminant to be removed. These detergents are targeted to both the nature of the food residue and the material of construction for the contact surface to avoid damage.
