Did you know that children and young people with allergies are entitled to receive a level of care that is outlined in the statutory guidance Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions at School (2017)?
One of the areas highlighted in this guidance is that schools should have an allergy policy or information relating to allergy management within another policy such as the administration of medication policy. We believe that children and young people with allergies should be specifically recognised and protected through a school’s safeguarding arrangements which exist to ensure that they are protected from harm.
With that in mind we are delighted to announce our partnership with Safeguarding Network, who recognise the importance of good allergy management in schools to safeguard students.
Through this partnership subscribers to Safeguarding Network will be signposted to Anaphylaxis UK for information and resources to support the development of allergy awareness, keep up to date with the latest news and developments in allergy and ensure that students are learning in safer schools. And importantly for us here at Anaphylaxis UK, the partnership with Safeguarding Network will allow us to keep up to date with the latest changes in safeguarding practice in order that we can work towards having safer schools for students with allergies at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
