Statement regarding death of Ellen Raffell

We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of Ellen Raffell, aged 16, who sadly died on 31st October 2019. We would like to offer our deepest sympathies to her family at this difficult time.

Following the inquest on Monday 18th January 2021. It has been reported that Ellen went into cardiac arrest which was initially thought to be as a result of an asthma attack. It was later established that she had died as a result of anaphylaxis to a food she had eaten prior to her death.

Lynne Regent, Chief Executive of the Anaphylaxis Campaign, said:

“Our thoughts are with Ellen’s family at this tragic time and we would like to offer our support and advice to them should they wish to get in touch.”
